This time of year is all about the eggnog recipes! We have been having so much fun finding ways to incorporate eggnog into a ton of different recipes.
I have to admit that I bought eggnog at Costco and like most things we pick up at Costco the containers are a lot bigger than I thought they would be. I am still working through the 2 cartons from Costco so there may be Eggnog Recipes until February. LOL!
This flavored eggnog whipped topping tastes amazing on a cup of hot chocolate. You can also add it to your favorite ice cream sundae, pumpkin pie, cheesecake, gingerbread loaf, coffee, or scoop it out with a cookie.
It is the perfect sweet topping for so many things! I love that guests get to enjoy a "fancy" whipped cream during the holidays.
It is so easy to make and people are always amazed at how great it tastes and that you put the effort into making them a homemade treat.
Ingredients
- Heavy Whipping Cream/Heavy Cream
- Eggnog
- Nutmeg
- Powdered Sugar/confectioners sugar
Garnish - Ground Nutmeg
Optional - Rum or Rum Extract, vanilla extract
Eggnog - You can use homemade eggnog or store bought eggnog.
Powdered Sugar - You can increase the amount if you want thicker whipped cream.
Equipment Needed
Hand Mixer/Stand Mixer - You can mix this with either a hand mixer or your stand mixer.
Spatula
Piping tip and bag if you want to pipe the whipped cream.
How to make Eggnog Whipped Cream
Step 1 - Place mixing bowl and whisk in the freezer for 10+ minutes so they get nice and cold.
Step 2 - Add ingredients to the chilled bowl and beat on low speed. You want everything to mix together and be completely dissolved before turning the mixer up to medium-high speed.
Step 3 - Keep on high speed until stiff peaks form. You can serve this eggnog flavored whipped cream in a bowl or pipe it onto your desserts.
I ended up using a piping tip at the end of a gallon size Ziploc bag to pipe our eggnog whipped cream.
I couldn't find a piping bag and didn't want to spend the time re-arranging the entire pantry trying to find one.
Recipe Tips
Store leftovers in the refrigerator
If you don't have space in your freezer and live in a cold area you can put the mixing bowl and whisk in a paper bag and place them on the front porch. It was 20ish degrees here when I made this and our freezer is packed with holiday cooking supplies. I ended up sticking the mixing bowl and whisk on the front porch wrapped in a bag for an hour and they were perfectly cold.
